Call for Oral Presentation Abstracts
[BC]2 invites scientists and professionals working in the fields of bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, clinical bioinformatics and personalized medicine, genomics, molecular modelling, computational neuroscience, computational biophysics and related fields to submit proposals for oral presentations in the form of abstracts. Selected presentations will be scheduled within the regular program of the conference. Presenters accepted for a talk are required to make the presentation themselves, and must register to attend the conference.
Submission Tracks:
- From Genotype to Phenotype and back, in health and disease
- Macromolecular Structure, Dynamics and Function
- Emerging applications of sequencing
- Computational neuroscience
- Evolution and Phylogeny
- Stochasticity, heterogeneity, and single cells
- Proteins, lipids & sugars
- Reproducibility and robustness of large scale biological analyses
- Biocuration, Databases, Ontologies, and Text Mining
- Computational biology driving experimental design
- Technology track: Software and technology, Demos and tutorials
Instructions for Abstract Submission
Abstract submissions are accepted online via the [EasyChair] system. The abstract should have the following overall structure:
Title: The intended title for the conference presentation. (The title will be published online in the conference program).
Scientific Abstract: Please summarize the main question which were addressed in this work, the approach taken, and the results of this study. (max 1000 words; the scientific abstract will be published online in the conference program).
Presentation of both unpublished or recently published results (published or in press between 2016 and the submission deadline) are acceptable. In the latter case, reference can optionally be provided in the form of a link to PubMed or by uploading a single PDF file. For unpublished work, submission of links to preprints is encouraged.
Highlights: Please briefly describe why this work would make a great conference presentation. (This information is only for the selection process – will not be published).
Presenter: Please briefly introduce the presenter of the work. (This information is only for the selection process – will not be published).
Selection Criteria
The program committee will select the abstracts to be presented at the meeting considering relevance, interest, and value of the topic to conference attendees, impact of the work on bioinformatics, computational biology and life sciences, and the likelihood that the work will make an exciting and thought-provoking conference presentation, including priority to unpublished or very recently published work.
Abstract Submission
There is no fee to submit an abstract. All abstracts must be submitted via [EasyChair] by 3 May 2017 (midnight any time zones). By submitting an abstract, all submitting authors confirm the following statements: (1) I have read, understand, and agree to the rules and guidelines; (2) I am submitting this abstract with the intent of attending the [BC]2 Basel Computational Biology Conference 2017 and presenting; and (3) I confirm that each co-author has been informed of this abstract submission and has agreed to all information as it was submitted. Note: Authors who submit abstracts are not automatically registered for the meeting. In order to participate in the meeting and make your presentation, authors must register for the meeting, and cover the costs of hotel and travel.
Abstract Confirmation / Receipt
After you submit your abstract, you will receive an immediate on-screen confirmation of receipt by the [EasyChair] system as well as a confirmation by email. If you do not receive a confirmation of receipt, then your abstract was not successfully submitted and it will not be reviewed or programmed by the 2017 Program Committee.
Abstract Revisions / Changes
To make changes to an abstract (including author changes) before the submission deadline, return to the abstract submission site and log into your [EasyChair] account. Abstract revisions changes will not be possible after the submission deadline.
Reviewing and Programming
Complete abstracts received by the submission deadline will be reviewed by members of the Program Committee. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by end of June to confirm their participation to the meeting. Important: the selection process is still ongoing and final notification of acceptance and rejection will be completed by July 17th.
Abstract Withdrawals
To withdraw an abstract before the submission deadline, return to the submission site and log into your [EasyChair] account. After acceptance and confirmation by the presenting author, abstracts are published in the [BC]2 2017 meeting program and cannot be withdrawn from publication (even at the request of the author and/or principal investigator).
